Why Is the Sea Salty . . .

 . . . so we can make salt out of it. Above is a closeup of freshly harvested sea salt in south of Taiwan. Taiwan used to produce a lot of sea salt some 50 years ago, but not much is left of that industry today. Full size image can be licensed here.
